The Weekend Before My Birthday
Went to London to celebrate my birthday with a good friend from my high school. I haven't seen him in a long time, we feasted, reminisced the good old days and talked about our lives. Needless to say, it was a short but sweet time. Majority of the day revolved around food, we were in a food coma!
1st Lunch Spot: Dinings SW3
One of my favourite restaurants in London for Japanese tapas-style dishes. I love the wagyu beef sushi the most, beef was tender and complimented both the foie gras and black truffle really well, I'm salivating already! Other dishes were also beautifully executed. Sea Urchin Sushi, Toro Fatty Tuna Chips, Seared Japanese Wagyu Beef Tar-Tar Chips, Shrimp Tempura Burger Bun, Fresh Water Eel and Pan Fried Foie Gras Roll with Sweet Soy Sauce. Ended the meal with Yu-Yake Cocktail and Valrhona Chocolate Martini. D E L I C I O U S
2nd lunch spot: Fancy Crab
The star of the meal wasn't the lobster, but the Seared Scallops garnished with Celeriac Puree and Smoked Pancetta. We also ordered truffle fries but didn't take a picture of it.
Dinner: Les 110 de Taillevent London
This is a modern French restaurant that serves exquisite food with an extensive wine list. Oh my, I enjoyed every dish except the Pink Lady Apple Tart Tartin which was too sweet for my liking.
My top 3 fav dishes
1. Butternut Squash Agnolotti with Additional Black Truffle
-Pasta is stuffed with butternut squash and parmesan mixture, cheese flavour isn't too overwhelming and the foamy light sauce ties the whole dish together.
2. English Rose Veal
-The texture of the meat is very delicate and smooth, bacon sauce tasted like fancy BBQ sauce but in a good way, not overpowering.
3. Quince Membrillo
-The most unique dessert of the night. The Truffle Honey paired really well with the Coffee Ice Cream, there's this depth of flavour, unlike anything I've tried. Truffle taste is usually quite strong, I thought I wouldn't be able to taste the Coffee Ice Cream but surprisingly the oaky nutty taste from the truffle enhanced the coffee ice cream. YUM!
Other dishes like the Loch Crinan Scallop, White truffle Agnolotti, Seared foie gras, Chocolate Hazelnut Cremeux were delectable too.

THE birthday WEEK

Just the usual me, chilling at a cafe and enjoying my birthday cake/meal alone. Received a call from my grandpa right after I posted it on my story saying: "Why are you having cake alone, why don't you celebrate with your friend?" HAHAH a cutie grandpa :')

High tea and dinner with my vvvvv beautiful friend :)
The Weekend After My Birthday
Luxembourg
Initially, I was planning to go to Copenhagen for my birthday getaway but scccchhoooooolll, so I visited Luxembourg instead. It was just a short getaway to recharge and soak up the atmosphere. Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries in Europe with beautiful historical monuments, art galleries and lovely cafes. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great when I was there, so I didn't get to explore the outdoors as much. I visited a few vegan/vegetarian cafes, went to an art exhibition and strolled around the city.

Took a selfie when it was blowing a gale, with the wind whipping through the streets, and howling all around. My umbrella was destroyed.
It's already the last quarter of 2020, I hope you're all well and if you're going through a rough time, remember there is no rainbow without rain, there is no smile without pain. Keep going, take it at your own pace and you're not alone :)
